Two local company owners were fined by the Magistrate Court for failing to pay the employee's salary for 2 months. Awang Mohammad Khairul Anam bin Haji Sulaiman, and Haji Mohd Asyraf bin Haji Sisa/Haji Isa, owners of Syarikat Qharoof Sendirian Berhad pleaded guilty to 4 charges under the Employment Order, 2009.
The Department of Labour found that the two employers failed to pay the balance of the employee's salary amounting BND$1,000 each. They were each fined BND $1,200 or 1 month imprisonment in default. In this regard, the Department of Labour reminds employers to always adhere to the labour law.
