The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) will conduct the Annual Census of Enterprises (ACE) 2026 for the reference year 2025 from August 1, 2026 until September 30, 2026.
ACE 2026 covers active companies and businesses operating in Brunei Darussalam. The census collects information relating to business activities, employment, revenue and expenditure to support the compilation of national economic statistics and to provide a better understanding of the performance and development of the private sector, particularly the micro, small and medium enterprises.
The information collected through the census is important in supporting evidence-based monitoring, planning, research and policy formulation related to economic development and business growth in the country. Findings from the census will also contribute towards improving the availability of business-related statistics and strengthening understanding of the country’s economic landscape.
Questionnaires will be distributed to companies and businesses through post, e-mail and visits by appointed census fieldworkers.
Businesses may also download the questionnaire from DEPS’s website. Census fieldworkers will also be available to provide guidance and assistance to businesses in completing the questionnaire where required.
DEPS seeks the cooperation of all companies and businesses to provide complete and accurate information in a timely manner.
The census is conducted under the Statistics Act, Chapter 81 Laws of Brunei Darussalam, which requires the provision of information for statistical purposes. Under the Act, any person who fails to provide the required information, knowingly provides false information, or refuses to comply with the census requirements may be subject to a penalty of BND4,000, under the law.
DEPS also assured that all businesses that the information collected will be treated with strict confidentiality and used solely for statistical purposes. No individual company or business information will be disclosed.
The closing date for submission of completed questionnaires to DEPS is September 30, 2026.
