A total of 35 paintings, featuring works by 10 local artists, are currently on display at the Uciran Art Exhibition: Kenangan Dalam Warna (Memories in Colour), following the opening ceremony at Dewan Jawatan Dalam, Brunei History Centre on Monday.
Organised with the support of the Brunei History Centre, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the event also saw poetry recitations and live painting demonstrations by the artists, concluding with a tour of the exhibition.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, the guest of honour, officiated the launching ceremony.
The participating local artists include Adi Zain, Awang Sitai, Dato Haini Hashim, Dato Shofry Ghafor, Malek Metarsat, Md Abidin Rashid, Osman Mohammad, Pengiran Timbang, Pengiran Wahab Hassan and Zakaria Hamid.
The exhibition aims to provide local artists with an opportunity to showcase their talents and works, while enhancing public appreciation of visual arts, particularly abstract and contemporary art in Brunei Darussalam.
