Express returns to Brunei International Airport

Homegrown brand Express made its return to Brunei International Airport following the official opening of Express Airport on Wednesday, marking the brand’s return to the airport after more than a decade.

Acting Chairperson of Royal Brunei Culinary (RBC) Hajah Mardiana binti Haji Omar, the guest of honour, officiated the ceremony. Also present to witness the auspicious occasion were management of RBC, representatives from Darussalam Assets and the Department of Civil Aviation and members of the media.

Express first opened at Brunei International Airport in 1988 and became a familiar part of the airport experience for many Bruneians. Over the years, its chicken pie, milkshakes and chips became some of the brand’s best well known favourites with the chicken pie still prepared using the same recipe today. Marking a first for Express is the introduction of Express Nasi Katok to its menu where the Bruneian staple joins the existing Express offerings, giving consumers something new alongside flavours they may remember from years ago.

General Manager of RBC Haji Jeff Hadiman bin Dato Paduka Haji Danial shared that the return of Express to the airport was a special moment for the brand. He said, “Express has always been a part of our culinary story and for many Bruneians, it is also part of their memories growing up. Bringing Express back to the airport gives us the opportunity to reconnect with those memories while introducing it to a whole new generation.” As one of Brunei’s main gateways, Brunei International Airport gives Express the opportunity to welcome visitors with a taste of a true local brand while offering Bruneians something familiar when they arrive home of before their travels.

The new outlet takes inspiration from the original Express, retaining its familiar red, blue and white colours and incorporating a retro inspired design while giving the overall space a fresh new look.

The opening also reflects RBS’s efforts to continue growing its homegrown brands while keeping the favorites that customers have known and enjoyed over the years. Returning to the airport marks a new chapter for Express at the very place where its journey began in 1988, reviving beloved Bruneian classics while introducing new offerings for the next generation.
