Fifteen certified as ASEAN National Assessor in Housekeeping

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, through the Tourism Development Department, has certified 15 participants comprising both academics and hospitality industry practitioners as ASEAN National Assessor in Housekeeping, following a certificate presentation ceremony on Saturday.

The programme aims to strengthen participants’ competencies in implementing the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP), particularly in the assessment and certification of housekeeping personnel in accordance with the ASEAN Common Competency Standards for Tourism Professionals (ACCSTP). It is also designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to conduct fair, consistent, and competency-based assessments, while ensuring that housekeeping service standards, as a fundamental aspect of the guest experience, are maintained at a high level aligned with regional ASEAN benchmarks.

Certified assessors play a vital role in safeguarding the quality and professionalism of the hospitality industry by ensuring that housekeeping personnel meet the competency standards established under the ACCSTP.

Through a credible, transparent, and consistent assessment process, they contribute to the development of a skilled workforce and support Brunei Darussalam’s continued participation in the ASEAN MRA-TP framework.

As certified National Assessors, they will enhance the quality, consistency, and credibility of the assessment and certification process for housekeeping personnel in Brunei Darussalam.

This initiative will further strengthen the country’s hospitality workforce and support the delivery of quality services to visitors, particularly in line with the nation’s preparations for Visit Brunei Year 2027.

Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, the guest of honour, presented the certificates.

Acting Director of Tourism Development Department Hajah Salinah binti Haji Mohd Salleh was also present.
