Five foreigners detained in immigration operations

Five foreign nationals were detained during two separate immigration enforcement operations targeting rental houses in Mukim Kota Batu and Mukim Berakas ‘A’.

The operations were conducted under Operasi Kakas JIPK 2026 by the Immigration and National Registration Department (JIPK) to curb immigration offences in the country.

During Operasi Kakas 97/2026 at rental houses in Mukim Kota Batu, seven foreign nationals were inspected, with one detained for further investigation.

The individual is believed to have committed an offence under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, for overstaying in the country after the expiry of an immigration pass.

In Operasi Kakas 98/2026 at a rental house in Mukim Berakas ‘A’, four foreign nationals were inspected and subsequently detained for further investigation.

All four are believed to have committed three immigration-related offences.

These include an offence under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, for overstaying after their immigration passes had expired.

They are also believed to have breached Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, for working for an employer other than their original employer, and Regulation 15(3) for working in a position different from that stated in their passports.

The department urged members of the public with information on immigration offences to contact its Law Enforcement Division hotline at 8734888 or 8753888 in Bandar Seri Begawan, or 8984111 in Kuala Belait.
