Five local charities receive BND12.5K in donations

Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) yesterday handed over BND12,500 in donations to five charitable organisations in Brunei Darussalam, with each organisation receiving BND2,500 during the company’s Media Appreciation Event.

The donations were presented by Chief Executive Officer of Hengyi Industries Chen Lian Cai to representatives from the five charity organisations, namely Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA), Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, Society for the Management of Autism Related Issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei, Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA), and Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA).

The contributions were presented in recognition of the important work carried out by these organisations in supporting children and families within the community.

In his opening remarks, Chief Executive Officer of Hengyi Industries Chen Lian Cai expressed appreciation to the media for their continued support, highlighted Hengyi Industries’ commitment to the community through Hengyi Cares, and shared an update on the ongoing Phase 2 development.

Looking ahead, he said, “We are also continuing to work towards the next chapter of Hengyi Industries. The Pulau Muara Besar Phase 2 Development Project is currently underway, representing an investment of approximately USD5 billion. Upon completion, Phase 2 is expected to increase our refining capacity from eight million tonnes per year to 20 million tonnes per year, while also expanding the range of refined products we can produce.”

“More importantly, we expect Phase 2 to bring more opportunities for Bruneians. Once operational, Phase 2 will generate numerous employment opportunities, and we are targeting a 50 per cent localisation rate for the Phase 2 workforce. This is an important target for us. We want to see more local talent taking part in the project and developing their careers in the downstream petrochemical industry,” he added.

Chen Lian Cai also said, “We will continue to work closely with the Government of Brunei Darussalam, our partners, our employees and the wider community to support the development of Brunei’s downstream petrochemical industry.” – James Kon
