A delegation from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) participated in the 22nd High-Level Meeting of the Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies (HACGAM) in Hangzhou, China from September 7 to 11, 2026.
The delegation was led by Director of Operations Assistant Commissioner of Police Haji Hamri Aslan bin Haji Abu Hanafiah with Marine Police Commanding Officer Superintendent of Police Kasnol bin Haji Muhammad Kincho.
The meeting served as a strategic platform that brought together senior leaders from maritime security and law enforcement agencies across Asia to strengthen operational cooperation, promote maritime safety, and address cross-border maritime security challenges.
The meeting featured a series of discussions, bilateral dialogues and technical workshops focused on HACGAM’s five key pillars. This included maritime search and rescue, marine environmental protection, prevention and suppression of unlawful acts at sea, capacity building, and information sharing and joint training.
Discussions also highlighted efforts to strengthen emergency response coordination at sea, address marine pollution and combat transnational crimes, including smuggling, piracy and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The participants also explored ways to enhance the capabilities and cooperation of maritime law enforcement agencies through the exchange of expertise, joint training and information sharing.
RBPF’s participation in the 22nd HACGAM meeting reflects the nation’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in support of the safety, stability and peace of maritime waters through a collaborative approach in accordance with international maritime law.
