Four youth achievements recognised at National Youth Day celebration

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Thursday attended the 21st National Youth Day Celebration 2026 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.

The celebration highlighted the achievements and contributions of the nation’s youth, with the presentation of the 21st National Youth Day Awards 2026 in four categories.

The awards recognised Outstanding Youth, Service Youth, Young Youth Leader and Outstanding Project for Youth.

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Dayang Fatin Afiqah binti Md Asrul Saniy received the Outstanding Youth Award 2026, comprising a trophy, a piece of Jongsarat Bunga Bintang Gemilang, a certificate of appreciation and BND3,000 in cash.

The Service Youth Award 2026 went to Dayang Sarah binti Abdul Mutalif, who received a trophy, a piece of Jongsarat Bertabur Bunga Permata Bangsa, a certificate of appreciation and BND3,000.

Dr Dayang Hajah Ummi Fa’izah binti Haji Abdul Rahman was awarded the Young Youth Leader Award 2026, receiving a trophy, a piece of Jongsarat Bunga Kebahagiaan, a certificate of appreciation and BND3,000.

The Outstanding Project for Youth Award 2026 was presented to Projek Ekosistem Rasa: BruneiBorneo’s Culinary Landscape – The Gula Anau Story, which received a trophy, certificate of appreciation and BND3,500 for the project’s development.

The project promotes gula anau as part of Brunei’s culinary heritage through the preservation of traditional knowledge, innovation and community empowerment, while highlighting its significance as part of the country’s culinary identity and heritage. The project was sponsored by imagine Sendirian Berhad.

The Youth Pledge was subsequently recited by 100 youths who have achieved accomplishments in various fields, including three youths with disabilities. The pledge was led by Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Awang Muhammad Fuad bin Haji Matahir.

The Youth Pledge recited by 100 youths who have achieved accomplishments in various fields, including three youths with disabilities, led by Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Awang Muhammad Fuad bin Haji Matahir.

An inspirational video showcasing the achievements of youths across various fields was also screened, reflecting the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ aspiration to position youth as partners in leading the realisation of Wawasan Brunei 2035.

The celebration also featured the youth musical performance “Suara Kita” and patriotic choir performance “Belia Menuju Wawasan”, accompanied by the Brunei Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Following the awards presentation, His Majesty signed the Commemorative Book and received the Pesambah before proceeding with members of the Royal Family to view the 21st National Youth Day Exhibition 2026.
