Haze remains moderate nationwide

Air quality remained at moderate levels across all four districts this afternoon, with Belait recording the highest Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading at 99.

As of 2pm today, Brunei-Muara and Temburong both recorded PSI readings of 89, while Tutong registered 81, according to the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe).

The readings remain within the moderate PSI range of 51 to 100, although Belait’s reading was close to the unhealthy threshold of 101.

Compared with the 9am readings, Brunei-Muara rose from 72 to 89, Belait from 88 to 99, Temburong from 73 to 89 and Tutong from 67 to 81.

The latest readings also remain below the unhealthy level recorded in Brunei-Muara yesterday, when the district registered a PSI of 110 at 2pm.

JASTRe said air quality reporting has incorporated PM2.5 concentrations into the PSI since September 1.
