Health Conditions and Guidelines

The Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Haj Affairs Department, shared that the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has set Health Conditions and Guidelines for National Haj Pilgrims for the 2026 Haj season. The guidelines include vaccination requirements, health screenings and preventive measures to ensure public health safety.

The government of Saudi Arabia has stipulated that haj pilgrims must be free from communicable diseases and have sufficient health to perform the Haj without risk to themselves or others. Among the diseases and health conditions that are considered ineligible for haj pilgrims are failure of one of the major organs including the kidneys; heart; chronic lung disease; and liver cirrhosis as well as neurological and mental diseases that affect cognitive ability or are accompanied by physical disabilities.

Aside from that, situations that also affect general health include high-risk pregnancies or being in the last three months of pregnancy; active infectious diseases AND active cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or similar treatment involving drugs and procedures that significantly suppress the immune system.

Intending haj pilgrims are also required to provide proof of having received a complete Covid-19 vaccination; or proof of recovery from Covid-19 infection around 2025. All intending haj pilgrims or workers during the haj season are also required to take the 'Neisseria Meningitis' vaccine, ACYW.

Saudi Arabian health authorities will implement additional health screening measures at the entrance for pilgrims from certain countries, depending on the level of health risk in the pilgrim's country of origin.
