The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Co-curriculum Education as the Sports Events Committee for the Teacher’s Day Celebration, in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), yesterday morning jointly held a walkathon in conjunction with the 36th Teacher’s Day Celebration 2026 at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh and Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the guests of honour, flagged off the walkathon.
The three-kilometre walkathon, which started and concluded at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas, was one of the recreational activities organised to enliven and commemorate the 36th Teacher’s Day Celebration 2026.
The event aimed to strengthen ties among personnel of the MoE, the MoRA and the public. It is also sought to promote the emotional, mental and social well-being of participants, in line with the national aspiration of fostering a ‘Healthy Lifestyle’, while further enlivening the Bandarku Ceria Programme. In addition to the Walkathon, this year also featured the ‘Acara Sukan Ria’ held in conjunction with the National Family Day 2026, organised by the Department of Schools, the Department of Private Education, and Laksamana College of Business.
The event, open to MoE members and the public, featured a variety of engaging activities as well as health screening.
The activities were conducted by government and private schools, with the aim of promoting the participants’ health and well-being.
Following the walkathon, the guests of honour toured accompanying activities held as part of the event, followed by the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Active School Leaders Challenge Programme, jointly organised by the Department of Schools and the Brunei Darussalam School Leaders Council.
Permanent Secretaries, Vice-Chancellors, the Rector, Ra’es, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments, officers, school leaders, teachers and staff from the MoE and the MoRA were present.
