Helping hand for lifelong learning

Chapter Crafters, participants of the 11th Cohort of the Young Executive Programme (YEP), launched the enhanced library and study corners at Kompleks Rumah Kebajikan (KRK) on Saturday, marking the completion of their Community Outreach Project (COP) with Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Noridah binti Abdul Hamid attending as the guest of honour.

Chapter Crafters comprises six YEP11 officers – Sharifah Nur Baqiyah binti Malai Shahran from the Judiciary Department, Siti Rabi’atul ‘Adawiyah binti Awang Haji Ishek and Abdul Hadi Hazazi bin Abd Halid from the Ministry of Defence, Humairazakiyah binti Haji Alihan from Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Muhammad Iyad bin Haji Marzuki from the Fire and Rescue Department, and Dr Azilla Liyana binti Mohd Azam Zaki from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali.

Named Baitul ‘Ilm Learning Hub, the project transformed the existing library and study areas at KRK into a more accessible and conducive space for reading, learning and skills development.

The initiative aims to foster a culture of lifelong learning among KRK residents by providing an environment that encourages reading, creativity, personal development and skills development.

In her opening remarks, Chapter Crafters representative Sharifah Nur Baqiyah said, “In line with our aspiration, Membimbing Langkah, Membina Masa Hadapan, we hope this space will become part of the residents’ journey towards reaching their full potential.” The project also supports the aspirations of Brunei Vision 2035, particularly in developing an educated, skilled and resilient population through greater access to knowledge and lifelong learning opportunities.

Acting Director of the Department of Community Development (JAPEM) Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, senior officers and officers from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Civil Service Institute (IPA), who served as programme coordinators were present.
