His Majesty attends birthday get-together

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to attend a Get-Together Ceremony with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Retired Officers at the Royal Berkshire Hall, Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club, Jerudong on Monday, in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebration.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and His Royal Highness 920 Lieutenant Colonel (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong and Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud.

Also greeting His Majesty were Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin as the Co-Chair of the executive committee of the ceremony. After a group photograph with the organising committee, His Majesty and members of the royal family were ushered to the Royal Berkshire Hall for the birthday cake-cutting ceremony and the presentation of pesambah.

The ceremony continued with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Colonel (Rtd) Mohammad Shafiee bin Haji Duraman.

In his welcoming address, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit conveyed that the gathering was held to express the retirees’ heartfelt joy, extend their highest congratulations and deepest affection to His Majesty on the occasion of His Majesty’s birthday, and reaffirm their continued and unwavering loyalty to the monarch.

His Majesty was also treated to a special performance of a song Doa untuk Raja, composed by Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah and performed by a group of retired RBAF personnel.

His Majesty was then ushered to the Royal Lounge to sign the commemorative guest book before consenting to a group photograph with all retired RBAF personnel in attendance.

The gathering was described as a landmark and historic occasion reflecting the retirees’ gratitude and appreciation for His Majesty’s continued care and concern for the welfare of retired RBAF personnel.

It also served to further strengthen the spirit of unity and solidarity among retired members of the armed forces.

Former RBAF commanders, retired senior officers, officers and senior non-commissioned officers, as well as the current Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan were also present. – LYNA MOHAMAD
