His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, consented to attend the 21st National Youth Day Celebration 2026 at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas yesterday.
Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, who is also Chairman of the 21st National Youth Day Celebration 2026 Steering Committee; Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, who is also Deputy Chairman of the 21st National Youth Day Celebration 2026 Steering Committee; and other members of the Steering Committee.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned. This was followed by a sembah alu-aluan by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
His Majesty then delivered a titah. Following this was the youth pledge recited by 100 youth who have achieved accomplishments in various fields, including three youth with disabilities. It was led by Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Muhammad Fuad bin Haji Matahir. The ceremony continued with a video showcasing the achievements of youth from various fields, reflecting the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ aspiration to position youth as partners in leading the realisation of Brunei Vision 2035.
The celebration was enlivened by a youth musical performance, ‘Suara Kita’, and a youth patriotic choir performance, ‘Belia Menuju Wawasan’, accompanied by the Brunei Youth Symphony Orchestra. The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the 21st National Youth Day Awards 2026 in four categories: Outstanding Youth, Service Youth, Young Youth Leader and Outstanding Project for Youth.
His Majesty subsequently signed the Commemorative Book and received the Pesambah, after which His Majesty and members of the royal family proceeded to view the 21st National Youth Day Exhibition 2026 at the foyer of the ICC.
This was followed by a royal luncheon. Before departing the venue, His Majesty and members of the royal family consented to a group photograph.
