His Majesty visits Ministry of Religious Affairs

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Monday morning consented to make an unscheduled visit to the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) on Jalan Dewan Majlis.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs and Chairman of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Civil Service Governance) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Awang Haji Mohamad, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Law) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, as well as senior officials from the ministry.

His Majesty commenced the unscheduled visit at Dewan Multaqa on the Ground Floor of the Darul Itqan Building, where the monarch consented to deliver a titah.

His Majesty then consented to tour the Zakat, Waqaf and Baitulmal Affairs Department (JUZWAB) and inspect the Asnaf Empowerment Café premises operating under the Zakat Asnaf Empowerment Programmes.

JUZWAB was officially established and launched on July 19, 2023, following the merger and restructuring of the Zakat Collection and Distribution Division (BAKAZ) and the Waqaf and Baitulmal Division of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council Department.
