The Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, through the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS), is conducting Houselisting until August 23, 2026, for each household within a designated area.
The purpose of Houselisting is to update the list of living quarters and household information in selected areas for the purpose of the Labour Force Survey (LFS), which will take place from October 5 to November 1, 2026.
An Oath-Taking Ceremony for 78 survey officers of LFS 2026 held on August 1, 2026, was witnessed by DEPS’ Department of Statistics Acting Director Bahrum bin Haji Kadun.
In his opening speech, the acting director said the implementation of the LFS is in line with international standards and best practices.
The survey officers are entrusted as frontliners to visit the designated housing units, and their role is to collect detailed data and information used to monitor and analyse national planning and development.
The results of the survey will be used by the government to formulate effective and comprehensive economic and social policies.
Among the information needed are the name and telephone number of the head of household, the total number of household members, and the address of the selected households. After obtaining the information, the survey officers will affix a sticker to each housing unit.
In facilitating a safe and efficient survey process, selected households are reminded to verify the identity of survey officers by checking their survey passes, appointment letters, identity cards, and official vests of the department.
Households with pets, particularly dogs, are requested to ensure that their pets are restrained for the safety of the survey officers during their visit.
LFS 2026 is conducted under the Statistics Act, Chapter 81 from the Laws of Brunei Darussalam.
The department assured all selected participating households that the information collected during the survey will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only.
Pursuant to Section 9 of the Statistics Act, the failure or reluctance to give the required information or furnish false particulars is an offence that carries a penalty of a BND4,000 fine.
