Berjaya Sdn Bhd introduces the GWM ORA 05 HEV
Berjaya Sdn Bhd, the authorised sales dealer of Great Wall Motor (GWM) in Brunei Darussalam, on Friday officially introduced the GWM ORA 05 HEV, expanding the brand’s intelligent hybrid portfolio in Brunei.
The GWM ORA 05 HEV joins the TANK 500 HEV and HAVAL H6 FL HEV in GWM’s hybrid line-up, with the HAVAL H7 HEV expected to broaden it further. It extends the brand’s hybrid offering into a more compact and lifestyle-oriented segment and expands the existing ORA 05 range rather than replacing the petrol version.
Berjaya Sdn Bhd said understanding hybrid technology goes beyond manufacturer specifications. The company has engaged Universiti Teknologi Brunei as a technical partner to study the real-world efficiency and driving range of the HAVAL H6 FL HEV under Brunei driving conditions. Recent real-world driving between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuala Belait has also provided experience of how GWM’s hybrid technology performs on longer local journeys.
The GWM ORA 05 HEV is powered by GWM’s Hi2 intelligent self-charging hybrid system, which automatically manages petrol and electric power according to driving conditions. Its 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, electric motor and Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) deliver a combined output of 164 kW (220 hp) and 476 Nm of torque. Drivers refuel the vehicle normally, with no need for external charging.
Ahead of the media launch, local automotive content creator Pengiran Fairol Rezal Malek Faesal, founder of Mantuka Brunei, used the GWM ORA 05 HEV for one week as part of his daily routine. “Every drive in the GWM ORA 05 HEV feels like stepping into the future, thanks to its smooth, quiet and powerful performance without the need for aggressive acceleration,” he said.
The vehicle features a 14.6-inch infotainment display with Coffee OS, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 50W wireless charging. Its interior includes an electric driver seat with ventilation, a driver-memory function and a panoramic glass roof. For driver assistance, it is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and a 540 degree camera with 3D surround view.
Berjaya said GWM’s hybrid journey in Brunei is moving from introduction to expansion. “What matters to us is that the technology works naturally around the way Bruneians already drive, not the other way around,” it said.
