Illegal car workshop activities in Kampong Sengkurong, Mukim Sengkurong was ordered by the Planning Authority to stop its activities for violating Section 23 (2), Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 248 for conducting its activities and constructing building extensions without Planning Permission, according to a press release by the Department of Town and Country Planning.
The activities were carried out on a land which is currently restricted only for residential purposes. The unauthorised workshop had caused discontent and affecting the well-being of the neighbouring residential lots. Upon routine inspection, the cars have been removed from the area.
The public is reminded to comply with the planning laws, in particular Section 23 TCPA which provides that no person shall carry out the development, subdivision or consolidation of any land or carry out any work in a conservation area without permission from the Planning Authority. Failure to comply is an offence liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding BND200,000 and in the case of continuing to a further fine not exceeding BND10,000 for every day during which the offence continues after conviction.
