The Department of Community Development (JAPEM) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday issued a statement alerting the public about a TikTok account operating under the username “@sistemkebajikannegara”.
The account used the official Government crest and the logo of the department on a TikTok poster containing false information regarding registration and eligibility for the SKN Special Assistance.
The department clarified that it has no affiliation with the mentioned account and has never issued any statement as disseminated.
The public is advised to exercise caution, remain vigilant, and refrain from easily believing information circulated on social media without verifying its authenticity.
Individuals are reminded not to share personal details with any party whose legitimacy has not been confirmed.
JAPEM takes this matter seriously, particularly the misuse of the official logo of the department, and the matter has been reported to the authorities.
The department reminds the public that the act of disseminating false or fabricated information with the intention of misleading others is an offence under the Public Order Act, Chapter 148, Section 34. Any individual who, whether orally, in writing, or through any other means, spreads false reports or makes false statements that disrupt public order may be subjected to imprisonment for up to three years, a fine of BND3,000, or both.
For more information, the public can contact JAPEM under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the 141 Call Centre, which operates 24 hours, if they wish to report any issues and matters involving the welfare of the public.
This official platform aims to ensure that reported information and complaints will be acted upon immediately and effectively, as well as to prevent the spread of fake news and false information that may disturb public order or be misused. – James Kon
