Four offences under the Price Control Act and the Weights and Measures Act were found during a joint operation by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, DEPS through the Department of Consumer Affairs, in collaboration with the Weights and Measures Unit, SDT, Industry and Business Ecosystem Division under the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The joint operation was conducted on business premises in Brunei Muara District, focusing on the Lambak area.
A business premise was issued two Warning Notices for selling cooking oil, a price-controlled item, above the prescribed maximum price, and failure to display prices on some of the items sold.
A compound fine of 500 dollars was also issued to Syarikat Ashlam Enterprise for non-compliance with price display regulations on some items sold. The SDT unit issued one Seizure Notice after three units owned by the company were found to be non-compliant with the Weights and Measures Act, because the company was not registered as a legitimate supplier. The company was given seven working days to rectify the issue.
