The Ministry of Defence held a Khatam Al-Qur'an Ceremony in conjunction with HIs Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 79th Birthday Celebration. It was held at the Surau Al-Barakah, Royal Brunei Air Force Base, Rimba, 19th September morning. Similar ceremonies were also held simultaneously at all garrison suraus, camps and bases of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces as well as the Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence. The ceremony was followed by the mass recitation of Lazim verses, Takhtim and Tahlil and concluded with the recitation of the Doa Khatam Al-Qur'an. The ceremony was a special pesambah for His Majesty as an expression of gratitude and to pray to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for His Majesty will continue to be blessed with prolonged longevity, good health and continue to reign Brunei Darussalam.
