Some 52 youth from Belait District comprising athletes, association members, students from Belait Sixth Form Centre, Institute of Brunei Technical Education Jefri Bolkiah Campus, Politeknik Brunei Lumut Campus, grassroots youth and mosque youth groups who successfully completed the Information Literacy Programme for Belait District Youth, received certificates during a closing ceremony at the Information Department‘s Auditorium yesterday.
Acting Director of Information Siti Bismi Nuruliman binti Awang Haji Emzah presented the certificates.
On the second day of the programme, participants attended the briefing ‘The Roles and Responsibilities of Citizens of Brunei Darussalam’, delivered by Acting Head of the Information Branch in Belait District Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahhuddin.
This was followed by an introductory briefing on the Rehabilitation Programme at Pusat Al-Islah by an officer from Pusat Al-Islah, Narcotics Control Bureau. In the afternoon, participants attended the briefing ‘Menambat Dastar dan Menapih Sinjang’ conducted by the Department of Adat Istiadat Negara (JAIN).
In addition to the briefing, participants had the opportunity to learn and take part in the menambat dastar and menapih sinjang activities under the guidance of JAIN officers. The Information Literacy Programme is one of the Information Department’s initiatives, adopting the Whole-of-Nation and Whole-of-Government approaches.
The programme aims, among other things, to nurture visionary youth with a strong sense of identity and high moral values, as well as a deep love for their religion, nation and country. It also seeks to instil a strong sense of responsibility among young people towards the successful achievement of Brunei Vision 2035.
