Lanterns, mooncakes mark festive night

The warm glow of paper lanterns and mooncakes enlivened the festive atmosphere at the Foochow Association Belait, as the community commemorated the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Held on October 3, 2026 night at the association’s building in the Belait District, the event saw more than 100 members, together with friends and families, spending time together in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Welcoming the attendees was chairman, George Wong, who highlighted the significance of the festival.

He added that the goal of the celebration was to help children gain a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture and essence, while enjoying the warm glow from traditional paper lantern while savouring festive mooncakes.

He described the Mid-Autumn Festival as an opportunity for family reunion, creating a harmonious household. The celebration continued with dinner being served alongside the iconic mooncakes, as well as fun games and activities themed around the Mid-Autumn Festival.

One of the highlights was the paper lantern-making competition, with attendees submitting their handmade paper lanterns in all shapes and sizes.

The winners received prizes, while all participant received consolation prizes.

Other activities included a lucky draw.
