The Language and Literature Bureau launched four new children's story books. The launch is to increase the collection of folklore and provide an opportunity for local writers to highlight the study as well as adaptation of Brunei Malay folklore. The books were launched on 26th August morning at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
It was officiated by Doctor Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. The launching of the books was part of the ongoing efforts of the Language and Literature Bureau to document and preserve the heritage of folklore. Three out of the four books launched were the outcome from the Seven Ethnics Folklore Story Writing Contest, including 'Si Awang Sumbilang'.
