Leadership rooted in trust, justice and concern for the people’s welfare is the foundation of a peaceful, prosperous and blessed nation, said Assistant Professor at the Centre for Knowledge and Language Dissemination, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Hajah Ummi Fa’izah binti Haji Abd Rahman, who also serves as Co-Mentor of the National Mosque Youth.
She said this in her religious talk ‘Blessed Leadership, Prosperous Nation’ at the 37th Special Women’s Munajat Night on Saturday, noting that leadership holds a position of great importance in Islam and society needs leaders to unite the people, provide direction, uphold justice and safeguard the common good. Leadership is a great trust for which every leader will be held accountable before Allah the Almighty, hence, trustworthy leaders strive to preserve the religion, uphold justice, safeguard the welfare of the people and ensure lasting peace and stability.
The leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, she added, inspires the nation through the priority given to religion, education, public welfare and national unity.
Religion nurtures a society founded on good character, trustworthiness and responsibility, while education develops knowledgeable and skilled citizens capable of meeting future challenges and public welfare ensures that those in need are not neglected, while unity serves as the pillar that preserves national peace.
With trustworthy leadership, a close bond between the monarch and the people, and citizens guided by faith, good moral values and unity, Brunei Darussalam can continue to prosper as a peaceful and blessed nation, fulfilling the aspiration of Baldatun Tayyibatun Wa Rabbun Ghafur.
The programme began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Head of the Muslimah of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Hajah Isisah binti Haji Sulaiman.
This was followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by committee member of the Leadership Development and Membership Unit of the National Mosque Youth (Women’s Wing) Nur Diyana binti Dato Paduka Haji Md Yussop. Meanwhile, the Doa Munajat was recited by facilitator for the mosque’s Muslimah Guidance Class Atikah binti Abd Khalid.
Head of the Syababul Iman Women’s Youth of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Siti Nurnadiatul Syahirah binti Mohammad Sumadi led the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah, while Hajah Zarina binti Dato Haji Abu Zar from the mosque’s Muslimah group recited the Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Brunei Darussalam.
The programme aimed to encourage Muslims to strengthen their relationship with Allah the Almighty through spiritual practices, seeking forgiveness, reciting and reflecting on Al-Quran, and collectively offering prayers for the nation, its people and residents to remain protected from calamities and infectious diseases. The session marked the 238th edition of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Munajat Night.
