Love for Prophet key to strengthening faith, youth told

Muslims should strive to purify their hearts through self-reflection, good character and a deeper love for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), particularly during the month of Rabiulawal, participants at the 20th Pejuang Fajr Programme were told on Friday.

Delivering a Subuh tazkirah themed ‘Love for the Prophet: Upgrade the Heart’ at Masjid As-Salaam in Kampong Junjongan, Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin underscored the importance of Tazkiyatun Nafs (purification of the soul) in shaping better Muslims.

He encouraged participants to cultivate noble character, continuously improve themselves, engage in self-reflection, practise husnuzon (positive thinking) and broaden their outlook in life while strengthening their love for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The programme was attended by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad as guest of honour.

Organised by the Belia Da’ie Volunteer Body with the support of the Youth Religious Programme Secretariat under the Islamic Da’wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and in collaboration with the As-Salaam Mosque Committee, the event forms part of ongoing efforts to promote congregational Subuh prayers and encourage greater participation in da’wah activities and Al-Amr Bil Ma’ruf Wa An-Nahyu ‘Anil Munkar in Brunei Darussalam.

The programme also aimed to raise public awareness of mahabbah – love and affection for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) – through strengthening faith, prayer, worship and righteous deeds, while encouraging participants to increase their salutations upon the Prophet, his family and companions.

In conjunction with the month of Rabiulawal, the event sought to foster spiritual purification and enliven mosques through meaningful religious and spiritual activities.

The programme began with Qiyamullail and Tahajjud prayers led by members of the Belia Da’ie Volunteer Body committee, followed by congregational Subuh prayers led by the imam of Masjid As-Salaam. Participants also joined in the recitation of Selawat and Surah Al-Kahfi before the tazkirah session.

The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Around 100 people attended the programme, including mosque congregants, government officers, retirees, youths, university students, Belia Da’ie committee members and members of the public.

Organisers expressed hope that the Pejuang Fajr Programme will continue to serve as a platform to encourage greater mosque participation, particularly among youths, while strengthening community ties and deepening appreciation of Islamic teachings and love for the Prophet.
