The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), through the Seria Police Station under the Belait Police District, detained a 40-year-old local man to assist in investigations into a viral video showing a road traffic accident along the highway at KM 22 towards Kuala Belait.
According to the RBPF, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol and against the flow of traffic, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. No injuries were reported in the incident. The suspect was taken to hospital for further medical examination.
The case is being investigated under Section 26(1) of the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 68) for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The RBPF reminded road users to comply with traffic regulations, refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol, drive responsibly and prioritise their own safety, as well as that of other road users.
