Nine students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education signed on to participate in the Maritime Cadetship Programme, a joint initiative of the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD; and IBTE as part of their journey to become professional Deck Officers. The ceremony, which was also in conjunction with the launch of the Brunei Darussalam Maritime Week 2025, took place at BRIDEX, Jerudong.
Present was Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. The cadets are currently enrolled in the Diploma in Nautical Studies at the Brunei Maritime Academy, IBTE, which commenced in July 2025. The programme provides the cadets with academic knowledge, practical training, and professional skills to serve on both national and international vessels.
