The Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department, through its Municipal Assets Enforcement Unit, in collaboration with the Licensing and Vendor Management Section, which conducted an inspection operation on vendors at Gadong Market and Gadong Variety Market, issued reminders and advice to vendors to comply with the licensing terms and regulations, particularly by ensuring that merchandise and business equipment do not extend beyond their designated stalls or allocated spaces.
A total of 20 vendors at Gadong Market were issued warnings for storing more than the permitted limit of two containers and for using wooden pallets as standing platforms within their designated stalls.
At Gadong Variety Market, 79 stall traders were issued warnings for using business space beyond their designated stalls.
Traders are reminded to maintain proper order and cleanliness, and to comply with business requirements to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors.
The department said it will take enforcement action in accordance with the prevailing laws, if the instructions and warnings are disregarded. – James Kon
