The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), through the Department of Islamic Studies, has expressed serious concern over allegations of inappropriate conduct at educational institutions in the country circulating on social media.
In a statement, the ministry stressed that all allegations concerning the safety, welfare, and well-being of members of educational institutions are treated with utmost seriousness. It emphasised that any form of misconduct, harassment, exploitation, abuse of power, or criminal behaviour that could compromise the safety and well-being of individuals within educational institutions is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Regarding the allegations currently circulating, the ministry stated that it is reviewing the relevant information and will cooperate fully with the relevant authorities to ensure that any matter with grounds for investigation is addressed in accordance with applicable laws, procedures, and regulations.
At the same time, the public has been advised against making speculations, sharing unverified information, or identifying any individuals in a manner that could prejudice investigations, breach privacy, or harm the well-being of those involved.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that educational institutions under its purview remain safe, conducive, and principled environments. Various preventive and monitoring measures continue to be implemented, including strengthening complaint mechanisms, ensuring compliance with codes of conduct, and raising awareness of the safety and protection of all school members.
Parents and members of the public with enquiries or complaints concerning the welfare of those at educational institutions under the Department of Islamic Studies are encouraged to contact the respective schools directly, call Talian Syifa’ during office hours, or submit their concerns via email.
