Ministry marks World Mental Health Day

The Ministry of Education, through the Counselling Division, as the Working Committee for the ministry’s World Mental Health Day 2026 celebration, yesterday held the Ratib Al-Attas Recitation and Doa Kesyukuran in conjunction with World Mental Health Day 2026, as part of the ministry’s programme of activities for the celebration.

The recitation of Ratib Al-Attas and Doa Kesyukuran, held online, was led by Counselling Division Education Officer Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam with participation of officers and staff of the ministry, as well as educators from educational institutions.

The event was held as part of efforts to raise awareness of the importance of mental health care from a spiritual perspective. The Doa Kesyukuran was also held in conjunction with World Mental Health Day, observed annually, with this year’s theme, ‘Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change’.

This year’s theme emphasises the importance of listening to the stories and lived experiences of individuals facing mental health challenges, while encouraging society to be more empathetic, non-judgmental, and to engage directly with those affected, rather than simply speaking about them.

The involvement of individuals with such lived experiences can also help ensure that the support provided is more person-centred, recovery-oriented, inclusive and humane.
