MoU inked to boost digital capabilities in learning

The official memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing between Laksamana College of Business (LCB) and Innov8 Labs Sdn Bhd marks a strategic partnership to strengthen digital capability, innovation, entrepreneurship and industry engagement, creating new avenues for students to translate academic learning into practical opportunity.

Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Principal of LCB Dr Sivarajah Subramaniam, and Director and Chief Executive Officer of Innov8 Labs Muthukrishnan Balasundaram signed the MoU.

A key outcome of the collaboration will be the establishment of an Innov8 Lab at LCB, an industry-linked platform designed to bring emerging technology, entrepreneurial thinking and applied learning closer to the student experience where the lab will facilitate activities spanning artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data protection, automation, digital business and emerging technologies.

Through this collaboration, it will also create opportunities for students to engage directly with practitioners and industry challenges, while exploring internships, industry projects, professional training and certification-aligned pathways.

In parallel, the partnership will support the development of entrepreneurial capabilities, giving students greater exposure to the process of developing ideas, testing solutions and understanding how innovation can translate into viable ventures.

Dr Sivarajah emphasised the importance of creating an education environment that connects academic knowledge with the realities of a rapidly changing economy.

“The future of education lies in creating meaningful connections between knowledge, industry and opportunity. Through our partnership with Innov8 Labs, we are creating an environment where students can engage with emerging technologies, develop entrepreneurial thinking and apply what they learn to real-world challenges.”

Their aim, he added, is to ensure that an LCB education equips students not only with a qualification, but with the adaptability and confidence to create value in an evolving world.

Meanwhile, Muthukrishnan shared Innov8 Labs’ vision for creating a stronger bridge between technology, industry and education, highlighting the value of giving students access to practical exposure, innovation ecosystems and the expertise required to turn emerging technologies and ideas into meaningful ventures.
