People in the country had the opportunity to witness the 'Blood Moon' phenomenon despite the less than favourable weather condition. The moon sighting by the Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam, PABD, in collaboration with the Kampung and Mukim Bukit Sawat Consultative Council and the Belait District Office was held at the Kampung Sungai Mau Multi-Purpose Hall. The Blood Moon was also visible throughout Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
In attendance, Awang Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, Acting Belait District Officer. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Awang Mohammad bin Abdullah ALIAS Lim Swee Ann, Members of the Legislative Council. Throughout the sighting period from 11:30 at night to 5 in the morning, the Blood Moon was not visible due to being covered by layers of cloud. The lunar eclipse was only visible in the early morning after the full lunar eclipse phase ended. Meanwhile, a similar activity was held at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in collaboration with PABD.
