In an effort to establish networks and strengthen cooperation between mosques locally and abroad, the Mosque Affairs Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, through its Imarah Division, organised the Talian Kasih: Masjid-Masjid Serantau programme, at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah yesterday.
The programme aims to strengthen relations between mosques in Brunei Darussalam and Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia, while serving as an academic platform for building networks of friendship, sharing ideas, knowledge and programmes, as well as supporting efforts to promote Islamic tourism. The programme is a continuation of the Muktamar Masjid-Masjid Serantau held in Kuching, Sarawak, which emphasised the concept of the Mosque Strategic and Smart Networking Centre.
The programme will be conducted through a series of monthly engagements held in conjunction with major Islamic and national occasions, involving members of mosque Takmir Committees, mosque officers, Muslimah and mosque youth.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by welcoming remarks and an introduction to the Imarah Division by its head Haji Fansuri Sharimi @ Mansur bin Mohamad Ali.
It is hoped that through the implementation of the programme, ties of fellowship between mosques in Brunei and mosques in the region will grow stronger, while positioning mosques as centres of worship, education, culture and the development of a virtuous Islamic community.
Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Mohd Aliyani bin Ismail was present, along with Deputy Director of the Mosque Management Division, Selangor Islamic Religious Department Haji Hashim bin Muhamad.
The programme also brought together deputy directors of the Mosque Management Division, Selangor Islamic Religious Department, as well as mosque administrators and nazirs from across Selangor Darul Ehsan.
