Premier Motor, the authorised distributor of MG vehicles in Brunei Darussalam, launched the all-new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) at The Borneo Kustom Show, at the Brunei International Defence Exhibition and Conference Centre (Bridex) on September 26.
The vehicle was officially unveiled by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, before an audience of guests, media, and automotive enthusiasts. The MG HS PHEV pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 220kW and 350Nm of torque, delivering stronger performance than a comparable petrol SUV.
Its 24.7kWh battery provides up to 120 kilometres of pure electric range under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), sufficient for most daily journeys, while combined fuel consumption of just 0.7 litres per 100 kilometres sharply cuts trips to the pump.
Once the battery is depleted, the petrol engine takes over automatically, giving drivers the confidence to travel further without range anxiety.
The HS PHEV on display is comprehensively equipped, featuring a 12.3-inch driver display alongside a 12.3-inch infotainment cluster, an electronic panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and driver’s seat memory.
It also comes with MG Pilot, a full suite of driver-assistance systems including Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and a 360-degree camera, riding on 19-inch alloy wheels.
“The MG HS PHEV marks an important step for MG in Brunei, giving customers the performance and space of a full-size SUV alongside genuine savings on fuel,” said Head of Marketing Mark Paren. “We are honoured that Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary officiated the unveiling, and we look forward to welcoming Bruneians to experience the MG HS PHEV for themselves.”
The MG HS PHEV is now available for viewing and test drives at Premier Motor showrooms, with prices starting from BND36,XXX. Interested customers are encouraged to visit their nearest showroom for more details on the vehicle and available financing options.
