Darjah VI students from Temburong Arabic School and Panchor Murai Religious School were recognised at separate Khatam Al-Quran ceremonies held yesterday, celebrating their successful completion of the recitation of all 30 juz of Al-Quran.
At Temburong Arabic School, 11 Darjah VI students – comprising five male and six female students – were honoured during the school’s Haflu Khatam Al-Quran Al-Karim ceremony held at the school hall yesterday morning.
Acting Temburong District Religious Officer at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Hazimin bin Haji Metali, the guest of honour, led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah to start the ceremony.
The programme featured recitations of selected Al-Quran verses by the participants, followed by the Takhtim recitation, Doa Khatam, a Dikir performance and the presentation of Khatam certificates and concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan.
The event also highlighted the importance of parental involvement in strengthening Islamic education while fostering closer ties between the school community and the parents and guardians of the students.
Meanwhile, 12 Darjah VI students were celebrated at Panchor Murai Religious School’s annual Khatam Al-Quran ceremony held yesterday afternoon.
Penghulu of Mukim Pengkalan Batu Haji Arfan bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the guest of honour, began the ceremony with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
The ceremony continued with the recitation of selected Al-Quran verses by the participants, followed by the Doa Khatam. Certificates were presented to the students by the guest of honour, accompanied by a Dikir Asyraqal performance. The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
The annual Khatam Al-Quran ceremonies, organised under the Department of Islamic Studies at the MoRA, are held across Arabic and religious schools to honour students who have completed the recitation of Al-Quran.
They also reflect the government’s aspiration to nurture a generation that is knowledgeable, Al-Quran-literate and of noble character, while reinforcing the department’s commitment to strengthening Al-Quran education and promoting a deeper appreciation of Al-Quran among young Muslims in Brunei Darussalam. – LYNA MOHAMAD
