Nurturing loyalty to Sultan and nation

Students demonstrate their responsibility to the Monarch and the nation by understanding the role of the Sultan, learning about the history of Brunei Darussalam and its Sultans, practising the values of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), obeying rules and laws, including school regulations, pursuing knowledge through education, and using social media wisely and responsibly.

These qualities reflect students’ loyalty and love for the Monarch and the nation, said Special Duties Officer II at the Secretariat Office of the Executive Council of MIB, Ministry of Education Dr Siti Salwana Syarfa binti Haji Dahlan, during her talk ‘Students’ Responsibility to the Monarch and the Nation’, held as part of the 239th Special Munajat in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in collaboration with the Nationwide Religious Programme of the Department of Islamic Studies (JPI), the event was attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan from the ministry’s surau.

The programme began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by member of the Legislative Council and Village Head of Kampong Labu Estet and Piasau-Piasau in Temburong Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir, from the hall of Pengiran Muda Mohamed Bolkiah Religious School, Bangar Town. This was followed by the mass recitation of Surah Al-Mulk, led by Religious Teacher II from JPI at Bokok Religious School, Temburong  Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamzah.

The Doa Munajat was recited by Education Officer from JPI based at Temburong Arabic School Muhammad Abdul Hadi bin Haji Bagol. Following the knowledge-sharing session, the programme continued with the recitation of Zikir Al-Maghfirah Wa Ar-Rahmah, led by Trained Religious Teacher from JPI Abang Hariz bin Abang Hadzman, together with teachers and students from Lamunin Religious School, Tutong.

The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Education Officer from JPI based at Temburong Arabic School Haji Asri bin Haji Timbang.

Deputy permanent secretary (Policy and Religious Affairs), the acting deputy permanent secretary (Administration and Finance) at the MoRA, government officers, teachers, and students from Arabic and religious schools under MoRA were also present. – LYNA MOHAMAD
