The Ministry of Education (MoE) has taken note of the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading recorded at 4pm on Tuesday, which indicates that air quality remains at a very unhealthy level.
In this regard, as a precautionary measure and in the interest of safeguarding the safety and well-being of the education community, all government and private educational institutions under the purview of the MoE and the Ministry of Religious Affairs are advised to implement Home-Based Learning (HBL) on Wednesday and Thursday. During this period, the respective educational institutions are required to activate their Business Continuity Plans (BCP) to ensure the continuity of teaching and learning. Teaching and learning may be conducted online or through the provision of Home Learning Pack (HLP), as appropriate and according to the needs of students.
For higher education institutions, their operations and the implementation of teaching and learning shall be subject to the arrangements and appropriate measures determined by the respective institutions, taking into consideration the current air quality conditions as well as the safety and well-being of their respective communities. The MoE will continue to closely monitor the situation, and a reassessment will be conducted at 4pm on September 4 to determine the subsequent operational status of educational institutions.
Any further developments or decisions will be communicated accordingly. The MoE extends its appreciation for the cooperation and attention of all parties in ensuring that the safety and well-being of the education community continue to be safeguarded.
