The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD, continues to increase efforts at further improving the local content aspects of the maritime sector. With the observed growth and further growth opportunities, the industry has the ability to grow the available job opportunities for locals. This was highlighted by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications, as Chairman of MPABD, during the Opening Ceremony of the Brunei Darussalam Maritime Week, BDMW 2025. With the theme 'Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Action', the event took place at Bridex Hall in Jerudong.
Also held was the launching of the Vessel Traffic Management System, VTMS to help advance safety and efficiency of navigation AND award of scholarships through Brunei Maritime Academy Cadetships Programme to 9 Bruneian cadets.
The event featured 60 exhibitors, forums, educational programmes, and engagement activities which aims to raise awareness, strengthen partnerships, and inspire real lasting action. It is open to the public until 3rd Ocotber Friday from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.
