Operations uncover suspected immigration offences

The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), through its Law Enforcement Division in Bandar Seri Begawan, conducted two enforcement operations under ‘Operasi Kakas 2026’ as part of its efforts to combat immigration offences in Brunei Darussalam.

During ‘Operasi Kakas 74/2026’ carried out at a bus stop area in Mukim Kianggeh, enforcement officers inspected one foreign national who was detained by the Law Enforcement Division on being suspected of committing an offence under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, for overstaying in the country.

Meanwhile, ‘Operasi Kakas 76/2026’ saw officers carry out an operation at a residential household in Mukim Mentiri, where five foreign nationals were inspected, with two detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for investigation.

The two individuals are suspected of committing offences under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, for overstaying in Brunei Darussalam, as well as Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, for working for an employer other than the one originally approved under their immigration permit. – Daniel Lim
