Overseas exposure strengthens local talent

Brunei Rotary Engineering Sdn Bhd (BRE) recognised the achievements of participants in its Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) and Internship Programme at a completion and certificate presentation ceremony at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom, The Empire Brunei on Tuesday.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin was the guest of honour.

High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Yip Wei Kiat was also present.

The OIP is a central part of BRE’s effort to develop Bruneian technical professionals through exposure to international industrial practices. The programme combines induction and health, safety and environment training with practical learning opportunities at operating industrial facilities and maintenance projects in Singapore. BRE’s learning updates identify 40 participants in Phase I and a further 15 places under the Phase II programme plan. Phase II provides integrated on-the-job experience at Singapore maintenance and turnaround projects, including assignments associated with Linde, Neste, Evonik and Aster Bukom. The experience intends to strengthen technical competence, safety awareness, adaptability and the sharing of knowledge upon participants’ return to Brunei.
