Brunei students pursuing studies overseas are encouraged to remain resilient in navigating academic, cultural and social challenges while upholding their religious and national values.
Students studying abroad may encounter differences in learning systems, culture shock, language and communication barriers, as well as the need to become more independent in managing their daily lives.
They may also face emotional challenges, including homesickness, alongside differing social influences that could test their identity and faith.
In this regard, the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), organised the Iltizam ‘Menanai Amanah Series 2’ Programme, featuring an academic podcast ‘Minda Sejahtera, Jati Diri Terpelihara’ for new and continuing students pursuing studies overseas.
The programme was held physically at the Lecture Hall of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, with students under MoRA scholarships currently studying overseas also participating virtually.
The programme served as a platform for students to share knowledge and experiences in addressing challenges encountered while studying abroad, while strengthening their appreciation of the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy.
The MIB philosophy remains an important foundation in helping students uphold religious and national values, while representing Brunei Darussalam as young ambassadors on the international stage.
Students participating in the programme included those pursuing studies in Egypt, Jordan, the United Kingdom and Malaysia.
Acting Secretary of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), MoRA, Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin was the guest of honour.
Meanwhile, the podcast featured three panellists, Special Duties Officer Grade II at the Secretariat Office of the Executive Council for MIB, Ministry of Education Dr Siti Salwana Syarfa binti Haji Dahlan; Public Psychology Officer at the Ministry of Health Fauziyyah Hanani binti Haji Abdul Manap; and student alumni representative from Egypt and the United Kingdom Alya Farhanah binti Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Norarfan.
