Residents from across Kampong Lumut gathered for five days of food, entertainment and community activities as Pesta Makan Santai Vol. 5 officially opened on August 13.
Held at the premises surrounding the Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC), the event features 75 vendors comprising local businesses and entrepreneurs, offering a variety of food, products and services.
Organised by the Village Consultative Council of Kampung Lumut II in collaboration with LLRC, the annual event aims to provide residents with a centralised venue to spend their weekend, particularly during the ongoing school holidays.
It also provides local vendors and entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their products while encouraging community members to come together and enjoy a range of food and entertainment activities throughout the event.
Acting Belait District Officer Mohammad Faiq bin Haji Rani officiated the event and was welcomed by Kampung Lumut II Village Head Awang Haji Khairdon bin Haji Dahlan.
Also present were Legislative Council (LegCo) members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, as well as committee members from the Village Consultative Council of Kampung Lumut II and LLRC, Penghulu Mukim and village heads from across Belait District.
The launch ceremony also featured a marching performance by a Royal Brunei Armed Forces marching troop, followed by a traditional silat performance by the Seni Warisan Pelangi Pencak Silat Group.
The five-day event is expected to serve as a platform for community engagement while supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs through increased exposure and participation.
