Purrfectly Green and BioPlast projects are among the research innovation projects conducted by several students from the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre, Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Islamic Technology, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA. The projects - which have won several awards in international innovation competitions - have made positive impacts and are relevant with current challenges especially in the halal industry, agriculture and sustainability of the country.
Among the projects that received attention was Purrfectly Green, a sustainable pet food produced from using food waste such as unsold chicken livers and wings. It is also an organic and healthy food source for cats.
Meanwhile, Bioplast is a biodegradable plastic made from potato starch, rice husks, coffee grounds as well as crab shells.
