Swift action by personnel from Bangar Police Station, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) following a tip off from the public led to the seizure of a quantity of contraband in Temburong District.
According to the RBPF, an inspection of the vehicle uncovered 2,500 packets of cigarettes, and 48 bottles and 144 cans of various alcohol brands.
The RBPF said a vehicle was detected being driven suspiciously in the vicinity of the roundabout along Jalan Labu. The vehicle was subsequently intercepted at the STKRJ Kampong Tanah Jambu area after the driver failed to stop resulting in a pursuit by police. The driver, believed to be a man, fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle.
The seized items were handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for investigation and action.
The RBPF expressed its appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and information provided. – JAMES KON
