Prince Malik graces Doa Kesyukuran ceremony

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Chairman of the Committee of Governors of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan), consented to attend a Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony on Monday.

The religious celebration marking the 34th anniversary of the establishment of Yayasan was held at the An-Naura Hall of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.

Greeting His Royal Highness upon arrival were Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as member of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Civil Service Governance) Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Awang Haji Mohamad as Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Law) Dato Seri Setia Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu as member of Yayasan Board of Directors, and Deputy Minister of Development Datin Seri Paduka Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as Acting Managing Director of Yayasan.

The ceremony began with a mass Fardhu Asar prayer, led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustapa bin Haji Murad, followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and the Doa Kesyukuran in conjunction with the 34th anniversary of the establishment of Yayasan.

Yayasan was established by a titah and consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on October 5, 1992 in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of His Majesty’s accession to the throne.

During on Monday’s ceremony, His Royal Highness also consented to present financial contributions from Yayasan totalling BND100,000 to two non-governmental organisations that conduct development and rehabilitation programmes for persons with disabilities.

The contributions reflect Yayasan concern for the welfare and well-being of persons with disabilities, particularly by providing them with appropriate guidance, education and skills so that they can develop their potential and contribute to the society and the nation.

Recipients were Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam (Pusat Ehsan) and SMARTER Brunei Association where Pusat Ehsan received a financial contribution of BND50,000. It was received on behalf by Medical Trustee at Pusat Ehsan Dato Paduka Dr Haji Affendy bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

The contribution is Yayasan’s annual contribution for 2026 in support of Pusat Ehsan in providing services and training to special needs individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve their maximum potential.

Meanwhile, SMARTER Brunei Association also received a financial contribution of BND50,000, which is also Yayasan’s annual contribution for 2026. It was received on behalf by President of SMARTER Brunei Association Pengiran Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Bujang.

Of this amount, 50 per cent is contributed to SMARTER Brunei Association to conduct specialised teaching and learning for autistic children while the remaining 50 per cent is allocated towards the payment of educational fees for autistic children from low-income families who attend SMARTER Brunei.

His Royal Highness also consented to present house keys under the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Housing Scheme to five underprivileged families, four of whom are from Brunei Muara District and one from Belait District.

The Brunei -Muara recipients were Mohammad Effandy bin Mohammad Hamir; Ahmad bin Daud; Mohamad Hatral Sufizan bin Awang Abdul Hamid and Suhaimi bin Haji Sidop and while the Belait District recipient was Hajah Duli Nurdiana binti Haji Mohd Daud. Houses provided under the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Housing Scheme are intended for underprivileged citizens, particularly those living in poor and unsafe housing conditions.

The construction of these houses is in line with the strategic direction of Yayasan to improve the quality of life and well-being of the people by addressing the basic needs of those requiring assistance.

This initiative is further intended to provide recipients with opportunities to improve their families’ living standards in terms of social and economic conditions and overall well-being.

To date, 189 houses under the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Housing Scheme have been constructed throughout the country, providing new hope for recipients and their families to continue their daily lives in a comfortable and safe home environment.

Also present at the ceremony were members of the Board of Directors of Yayasan; special guests; officers and staff of the Yayasan; as well as teachers of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School. The establishment of Yayasan serves as a platform for charitable works and alms by His Majesty and members of the Royal Family, as a manifestation of His Majesty’s care and affection for the people, as well as to contribute towards the development of a prosperous and harmonious society in Brunei Darussalam.

Throughout more than three decades since its establishment, Yayasan has touched the lives of thousands of citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam through various programmes, projects and initiatives in line with its founding objectives, while making a tangible impact in the fields of education, social welfare, healthcare, as well as economic development and entrepreneurship.

Every initiative undertaken not only addresses current needs, but also serves as a catalyst for long-term progress, in line with the aspirations of His Majesty to improve the quality of life and well-being of the people.

In all of its planning and implementation of programmes, projects and activities, Yayasan continues to fully support the national development agenda in line with the goals of Brunei Vision 2035.
