Prisons Department wins Recovery Cup

The Prisons Department emerged champions of the Recovery Cup football tournament organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) through its Treatment and Rehabilitation Division at the Tutong Sports Complex recently.

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) finished second, while Al-Hijrah secured third place.

Eight teams representing government agencies, the private sector and associations competed in the tournament.

Held in conjunction with International Recovery Day, the tournament aimed to raise awareness of the importance of recovery from drug abuse while promoting sports as a form of rehabilitation support and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

It also sought to reduce the stigma surrounding individuals undergoing rehabilitation and foster greater public acceptance and support for recovery efforts and social reintegration.

Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Zalani bin Haji Ismail was the guest of honour.
