Programme builds employability skills

Katok Secondary School held a certificate presentation ceremony to celebrate the achievement of students in completing the spice packaging activity for Syarikat Sabli Food Industries (B) Sdn Bhd for the year 2026.

Manager of Sabli Food Industries Awang Haji Mohd. Nooh bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Dinda Haji Saman was the guest of honour and presented certificates to the students.

Principal of Katok Secondary School Penroose Saleha binti Haji Mohammad Salleh; Head of the Career Education Unit, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Andree Asmara bin Haji Abidin; Deputy Principal Academic Suzanah binti Haji Kurus, Deputy Principal of Administration Hajah Siti binti Pungut and Assistant Senior Teacher of Academic I Hajah Suryani binti Haji Mahmud, Career Education Unit officers from Department of Schools, MoE and Pre-Vocational Programme teachers also attended.

Principal of Katok Secondary School Penroose Saleha expressed hope that the collaborative programme will continue in the near future, noting its crucial role in sharpening students’ employability skills and providing practical work experiences to prepare them for upcoming industry placements and post-graduation employment.

She added that the certificate serves as a valuable addition to the students’ personal portfolios, providing tangible proof of their achievements during their time at the school.

The event also featured a sharing session by Pre-Vocational Programme student Awang Mohd Zafir Adha bin Mohd Zain, who reflected on his personal experiences participating in the Work Simulation Programme.

The ceremony contined with the presentation of participation certificates to 18 Pre-Vocational Programme students, and concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the guest of honour and the Head of the Career Education Unit as a token of appreciation from the school
principal.

This spice packaging activity is a collaborative programme under Work Simulation Programme between Sabli Food Industries and Department of Schools, MoE, since 2015, aiming to build employability skills and gain basic work experience.

Currently, there are three selected government secondary schools implementing this programme: Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School, Katok Secondary School, and Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School.

Launched in 2015 under the Career Education Unit’s Work Simulation Programme across selected government secondary schools, the initiative was pioneered by Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School. Katok Secondary School later joined the programme in 2017 alongside Pengiran Isteri HajJah Mariam Secondary School.
