The Fire and Rescue Department has urged the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures against wild animals entering homes and premises, following the discovery of a snake inside a cat cage in Kampong Sungai Tilong.
Preventive measures recommended by the department include keeping doors and windows closed, particularly when leaving the premises, to deter intrusions by wildlife such as snakes, stray dogs, crocodiles, and monkeys.
Residents are also advised to maintain cleanliness in the surrounding areas of homes and buildings to minimise risks, and to refrain from approaching, disturbing, or attempting to capture wild animals, as such actions can pose serious dangers and lead to unwanted incidents.
The department received an emergency call on Sunday regarding a wild animal disturbance involving a snake found inside a cat cage in Kampong Sungai Tilong. A python measuring an estimated 2.5 metres in length, with a width of approximately 54 centimetres, was successfully captured by personnel from the Lambak Kanan Fire Station. The operation was led by Acting Deputy Station Officer Hussaini bin Haji Hussin alongside three other personnel.
The reptile was located inside the cage, and firefighters safely conducted the capture using specialised equipment comprising two snare catchers.
No injuries or accidents were reported during the incident. Members of the public are advised to immediately contact the emergency hotline 995 if they encounter situations involving wild animals or any other emergencies.
